SCADA Communications

Replace SCADA telephone lines with cellular connectivity. Support for modem communication, RTU/PLC compatibility, and multi-site deployment — for utilities, water, industrial, and pipeline monitoring applications.

What Is SCADA and Why It Uses Telephone Lines

SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems monitor and control remote equipment across utilities, water, industrial, and pipeline operations. Remote terminal units (RTUs) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) communicate status, alarms, and control data to a central control room.

Many SCADA systems were designed to communicate over analog telephone lines. As carriers retire copper infrastructure, those communication paths are at risk. Manley Solutions replaces the telephone line with cellular connectivity while preserving the modem communication that the SCADA equipment depends on.

SCADA Applications

Utility Monitoring

Electric, gas, and water utilities use telephone lines for remote monitoring and control of distribution infrastructure.

Water/Wastewater

Pump stations, treatment plants, and remote tanks report levels and alarms over telephone lines.

Industrial

Manufacturing facilities use telephone lines for PLC communication and remote monitoring.

Pipeline Monitoring

Oil and gas pipelines use telephone lines for SCADA telemetry and alarm reporting.

Technical Considerations

Modem Communication

SCADA uses modem tones — different from voice and from fire alarm Contact ID. Equipment must support modem timing.

Carrier Coverage

Remote SCADA sites are often in rural or industrial areas. We assess carrier coverage at each location.

Battery Backup

Remote sites need to communicate during power outages. Battery health is monitored.

Equipment Compatibility

We evaluate compatibility with your specific RTUs and PLCs before deployment.
